Salcombe Rugby club

The Rugby Club was founded in 1888 and the team had played on a number of sites until around 1940, when the Club purchased the land where matches are now played. But it was not until after World War 2 that work to establish a playing surface began, as the ground had been occupied by the American Forces, in the area on training excercises.
